I attended the annual Mobile Beat Disc Jockey Conference at the South Point Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. http://www.mobilebeat.com. I've been attending since 1997. The show brings disc jockeys from across the United States (and often ... Canada, the UK, Australia & New Zealand) together to network, share ideas, attend seminars and party together.
I'd like to thank Peter Merkle from Chicago for starting the show early with his 'think cycle'. Peter brings together some of the best and brightest for a day of problem solving and creative brainstorming.
The 'keynote' speaker this year was James Malinchak. James shared his "Success Starts with Attitude" seminar followed by his "How to be a Master Networker". My good friend and colleague DJ Zan has studied with James so I had the opportunity to meet him. Inspirational way to start off the show.
The other standout seminar was Peter Merry's "The Best Wedding Reception... Ever" which is the name of his new book. I am excited that Peter has finished his book that will educate the public about choosing a disc jockey. The book explains the responsibilities most disc jockeys must accept as wedding disc jockeys which include master of ceremonies, event coordinator, event director, music programmer, creative planner, writer and sound tech. Peter has trademarked a new title for a true professional: Wedding Entertainment Director.
