Jason Mraz entertains, amuses and rocks a sold out Greek Theatre crowd

I approached the box office knowing the 11-02-2008 Jason Mraz show was 'sold out' but I've always had good luck buying tickets anyway. Sure enough, no tickets. I walked around the entrance and only a handful of 'scalpers' were around... $200.00... Hmmm? I don't think so... I re-approached the box office and a pair had opened up 4th row center from the stage... I called my buddy but he had a 3rd person wanting to go so I opted to buy a single seat... oops, tickets were gone while I was on the phone. I hung out another 10 minutes and the same seats opened up again so I bought one and drove down the hill to park. I had time so I figured I'd save some money and get some activity before the show.

I sat down as the opening band played their final song... they sounded great and were called 'two spot Gobi' if my memory serves... from Britain. Next up... Lisa Hannigan from Ireland... great music and pretty vocals (although a bit sleepy for my taste).

The seats start filling up on this 'almost rainy' night at the Greek as Jason's opening video begins featuring Mraz singing Karaoke hits 'from the Green Room' until a stage hand says: 'shows about to begin'...

I wasn't sure what to expect, all I knew about Jason Mraz is that I appreciated his songwriting ability from earlier hits like "Wordplay" and "The Remedy" and he was now in the Top 20 with "I'm Yours" which I've played a handful of times over cocktail hour along with "Lucky" featuring Colby Callait. (Show opener: Lisa Hannigan came out for the 'encore' and handled 'Lucky' quite proficiently.)

I have to give major props to Jason Mraz for not only being a talented vocalist and songwriter but an exceptional entertainer. His use of humor, 'call and response' and talented musicians (including gospel singers "Voices of Prayz") made for a most enjoyable evening.

Jason's use of Pop, rock, jazz, reggae, bossa nova kept the evening interesting and it was nice to see a real horn section featured in a 'pop' act.

I give Jason a perfect 10... awesome!
