I am a friend of Fiona and Larry and I remember their wedding reception as being one of the best that I have ever attended. Excellent choice of music, unforgetable games, it's just WOW! My wedding is coming up next year (still trying to decide on the date) and I only want MARK, MARK, and MARK to be my DJ/MC!! :) *I seriously told my fiance that*

Comment on Simple wedding consulting for a flat fee

I just finished reading 3/4 of Peter Merry's book.... Lots of valuable information in there.

Now that you made the adjustment, it seems like a WIN-WIN for both the prospective wedding couple and your company. $75 an hour for consult with a W.E.D. calibre entertainer.....PRICELESS.

Comment on Simple wedding consulting for a flat fee

Thanks for reminding me to change the rate. I had actually changed the fee to $150.00.

I appreciate your comments.

I'm not concerned with what Peter Merry would be charging, nor am I worried about someone going off and finding someone cheaper with my ideas. An idea is simply that an 'idea'. The talent to execute an idea properly is entirely different. If you read Peter Merry's new book "The Best Wedding Reception...Ever!", you'll notice there are many ideas for enhancing a wedding that the reader can 'do themselves' if they choose. Will they be able to incorporate the ideas on their own? Maybe yes, maybe no. I've seen 'homemade' video montages that were better than professional video productions and vice versa.

My additional services are not 'huge profit centers'. My main income remains my DJ/MC services.

The goal of 'apprentice DJ's' is to allow trainees the opportunity to work and gain experience while clients with a tight budget have an opportunity to save money. It is an honest win-win situation. They are not 'less-talented', they are 'less-experienced'.

The goal for my consulting service is to educate couples so they know what to look for when choosing services for their wedding. The consultation could relate to photography, video, room layout, entertainment or any aspect they want to discuss during their two hours.

One, you are selling yourself too cheeply (your time in LA is worth at least $150 per hour).

Granted, I can see this price of $100 for two hours being fair, if the prospect booked your services.

But what's to say they won't go off and hire someone cheaper, using your ideas?

I guess this will be a huge profit center for your company, just like the "Apprentice DJ's" which ensure a full calendar for your less-talented jocks.

My gut feeling is this price of $100 for two hours of consult, is a joke. What would Peter Merry charge? ($200 an hour)

Even here in Sacramento, I'm getting $100 an hour for wedding consultation.
